In the course of history, the Iberians, the Phoenicians and the Arabs visited the area of the Mar Menor. The Muslims called it "Mar Chico" and turned the place Los Alcázares into a place of relaxation. Nearby are also watchtowers built to counter the threat of sea pirates from North Africa. For a long time, the Mar Menor was mainly concerned with fishing and salt production, but later villages appeared on the banks with the holiday homes of residents from the Huerta de Murcia area.

As mentioned before, the Mar Menor has a lot to offer. Lovers of sun, sea and sand have come to the right place in this part of Spain. The long coastline of the Mar Menor is home to countless long sandy beaches where you can relax. These are often bordered by an attractive boulevard with southern palm trees.
