The Mar Menor is a lagoon in the autonomous community of Murcia, in southeastern Spain. It is (almost) separated from the Mediterranean Sea by the land strip of La Manga del Mar Menor. In total, the Mar Menor covers an area of no less than 180 square kilometers. The coastline is 73 kilometers long and counts one dream beach after the other. There are several small islands in the lagoon.

For a long time, the Mar Menor was mainly concerned with fishing and salt production, but later villages appeared on the banks with the holiday homes of residents from the Huerta de Murcia area.

During the summer the temperature can be high, but thanks to the presence of the sea there is always a wonderful cooling breeze to fall back on.
